Had a monitoring u/s today, and as I was leaving, chatting with the nurses. One says, "Oh, we need to *do* something, something so this one works! I'm going to pray extra hard for you this week." And, "Me, too!" says the other. Great! Thanks! Because, you know, G-d loves me.
I thought of this bit from Jim Ga.ffigan. Really only the first minute is relevant, but it made me laugh today.

Oh good. I thought maybe I'm the only one who starts to seriously squirm when someone tells me they're going to pray for me. And in some contexts, offended.
When I'm being a big person, though, I'm touched....But usually, disturbed.
No, I'm the same way. It really depends on who says it, and the context in which it's said. These are very sweet women who care about me, and it makes them feel better. It's important to them, but really the only way it's about me is that they want something good for me. If that makes any sense.
Luckily British reserve is very helpful in these circs and nobody ever tells you that they will pray for you - at least not in my experience. In fact recently a nurse got fired for doing just that as her patient was unhappy about it.
thanks but no thanks.
I don't know why people feel compelled to offer prayers. I guess I just don't get it.
But I am hoping this cycle works!
No prayers here...wouldn't want to be the cause of lightning or some other wrath incurred...
Hoping, tho, hoping like hell that this is the ONE.
Everything crossed for you, and then some.
