I had to share this

...although I'm probably being way over-sensitive. My brother did warn me an invite was coming. He gets points for that. Ultrasound pic on the invite? I could have used some warning for that, too. He knew I wasn't planning to go. I wouldn't have looked at all. (By the end of the last 10 days, ultrasounds came to represent the most difficult decisions we had to make. Though I don't know if he knew that.)

But, really? Is this what baby shower invitations look like now? I guess it's been a while since I've seen one.

*****
I'm all over the place these days. Thanks for abiding the silence.

Ultrasound on the invite, clear assumption that all will be well (and I hope and hope it will be, but it's one hell of a big assumption), crazy cheerful illustration, and even the font seems really, really happy - you're not being way over-sensitive. Looking at this invite makes me wish I could throw salt over my shoulder.

I'm sorry you had to deal with this. I hope your next mail delivery is much milder.

Are you serious??? What's next, u/s photos for Christmas cards? (although I'm sure that's already been covered somewhere...!).

Ugh. I'm sorry you had to see that. I think the ultrasound picture on the invite is a bit much. I'm sorry Sue.

that is one difficult baby shower invitation to look at. i still find even the "normal" ones tough. but that one is...yowzah.

ugh. so not necessary.

my cousin and his wife were 3 mos pg at their wedding and only a handful of us knew. they used their toast as the chance to announce it, as they presented a framed u/s pic of the 'other guest' at the party. I choked back a lump in my throat and went to the bathroom, where of course I learned that I had gotten my period. fun times!

it's really never necessary to share a u/s pic. so why does everyone have them on their fridge? mine is locked up in a box with Other Things I Don't Want To See. ugh.

The only thing missing is the actual name of the child. Baby showers where the child is named like s/he's there really freak me the fuck out.

Bleh. That's why god invented the recycle pile.

Sending love... I just got one with a pic too, so maybe this is the new "chic" fashion. But it doesnt make it any easier to read...

Hugs...

This invite is over the top. Although I was recently invited to a shower that compares... and I didn't go. I just can't think this way anymore.

For the record, I have never seen this before either. It's a little freaky, but I guess it's to be expected from the naive side.

Not good at all. I am glad that the are virtually no baby showers here so at least we don't have to endure this kind of thing. Not a fan of the u/s email either. Thinking of you.
