She's gone

Late this evening.

September 14, 1917 -- May 6, 2010.

Nine years (to the day) after she buried her daughter. Six after she buried her husband.

Her name was Anna Sarah T______, but she hated her name and changed it to Ann Shirley as an adult. Yes, after Anne of Gr.een Gab.les (or so I understand, though, she didn't keep the e at the end).

She was a hell of a woman. She made a mean pot of chicken soup with matzo balls and "killer" rugelah, known internationally. The slippers she knitted are still keeping feet warm all over the country.

And she was my Grandma.

I'm so sorry. Grandmas (& grandpas) are such special people. I still miss mine horribly. My maternal Grandpa's birthday was this week (he would have been 98) & Grandma's is next week (96). And this Sunday is not only that day we all dread, but marks 35 years since my other grandmother died.

I'll be thinking of you. (((hugs)))

I'm so sorry. I had a great relationship with my grandmother who passed away in 2006. We just attended my DH grandmothers funeral 2 weeks ago. Wishing you peace.

I'm so sorry. She sounds like she was a pretty awesome lady. I'm sorry she's gone. Thinking of you and reading daily even if I don't comment as often as I'd like.

I just came upon this blog, and felt compelled to leave a few words.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. May she rest in peace and be remembered with every spoonful of chicken soup, bite of rugelah and warmth against chill.

Take care.

So sorry Sue. I loved and adored my Grandma and was just devestated when she passed. I can imagine your loss and hope that her memories will bring you some measure of comfort in the days to come.

Sue, so, so sorry. Sending you sympathy and condolences. Wishing you strength.

It is what it is said...

I meant to post when I read this but got interrupted, for a long time.

I hope the spirit of your grandma and all the memories built and stored over a life time, bring you comfort as you continue on your journey.

There is nothing like the love and adult relationship with a grandma.
